TERMS OF SERVICE

1. Who We Are, and Acceptance of Terms

LumaText is operated by Lekhansh Ojha, an individual sole proprietor based in India ("we", "us", "LumaText"). By creating an account, or by otherwise accessing or using LumaText, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

LumaText provides three tools: an AI Humanizer that rewrites text, an AI Detector that estimates how likely text is to be AI-generated, and a Plagiarism Checker that scans text for passages matching web sources. The service is provided "as is" and "as available."

These tools run on specialist third-party providers, described in our Privacy Policy. We may change or replace a provider, and we may add, change or withdraw features, at any time.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use LumaText, or at least 13 if the law where you live lets you consent to online services at that age with a parent or guardian's permission. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement. If we learn that an account belongs to someone below that age, we will delete it.

4. Account Registration

You must create an account to use LumaText. Accounts are created with Google Sign-In, so we never hold a LumaText password for you — the security of your account depends on the security of your Google account, which is your responsibility. You must provide accurate information during registration, and one account is for one person.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to bypass usage limits or rate limiting
• Reverse engineer the service or APIs
• Share your account with others
• Submit content that violates others' intellectual property rights
• Use automated tools to access the service without permission
• Submit content that is unlawful, or that you have no right to submit

6. Your Responsibility for How You Use the Output

You decide what to do with the text LumaText produces, and you are responsible for that decision.

In particular, if you are a student or researcher, you are responsible for complying with the academic integrity, authorship and AI-use rules of your school, university, journal or employer. Those rules vary, many institutions restrict or prohibit the use of tools like this one, and some treat it as misconduct. LumaText does not grant you permission to break them, does not advise you on them, and takes no responsibility for academic, disciplinary, professional or legal consequences arising from how you use the output.

The same applies to any other setting where the origin of text matters, such as a job application, a legal filing, or a publisher's submission rules. Check what you are allowed to do before you use the output.

7. Subscription and Billing

Merchant of record. Pro subscriptions are sold and billed by Polar Software, Inc. ("Polar"), our merchant of record and authorized reseller. When you upgrade, you complete checkout on Polar's secure payment page and buy the subscription from Polar, so your purchase is also governed by Polar's Checkout Buyer Terms. Your use of LumaText itself is governed by these Terms.

Price and renewal. Pro costs $7 per month, plus any applicable sales tax or VAT. Polar calculates tax from your billing location and shows the total before you pay. Your subscription renews automatically each month, and your payment method is charged at the start of each billing period, until you cancel. If we change the price, we will tell you in advance, and the new price will apply only from your next billing period after the notice.

What Pro includes. Pro raises your limits, as described in section 8. It is not an unmetered plan, and you should read section 8 before subscribing.

When Pro starts. Pro access is turned on as soon as Polar confirms your payment. This usually takes a few seconds after checkout.

Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, Pro features are paused and your account uses the Free plan limits. Polar will retry the charge. Pro access comes back automatically once a payment succeeds, and you can update your payment method at any time from the Billing page.

Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from the Billing page, which opens Polar's customer portal, or by contacting Polar at [email protected]. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period: you keep Pro until then and you will not be charged again. You can resume a cancelled subscription before the period ends.

Refunds. We do not offer refunds for partial months or unused time. Refund requests are handled by Polar under its Checkout Buyer Terms, applicable law and card network rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any refund or cancellation rights you have under the consumer law of your country.

Invoices. Polar issues an invoice or receipt for every payment. You can download them at any time from the Polar customer portal via your Billing page.

Chargebacks. If you have a problem with a charge, please contact us or Polar first. If you open a chargeback for a valid charge, Polar may dispute it, and we may suspend Pro access while the dispute is open.

8. Plan Limits

Every plan is metered, including Pro. Each of the three tools is limited in three ways:

• Words per request — the longest single piece of text you can submit to that tool
• Runs per day — how many successful runs of that tool you get in a UTC day. The Pro plan currently has no daily cap.
• Words per month — the total words that tool will process for you in a calendar month, counted from successful runs and reset on the 1st (UTC)

The figures for each plan are shown on the pricing section of our home page and in the app, and they are the current figures at all times. Pro is a higher-limit plan, not an unlimited one. When you reach a limit, the tool tells you which limit you hit and when it resets.

Your saved Library documents are also capped by plan; on the Free plan, older documents are removed automatically as newer ones are saved.

We may change any of these limits. If a change reduces what a paid Pro subscription gets, we will tell you in advance, and you may cancel before it takes effect. Free tier access does not guarantee any specific level of service availability.

9. Accuracy Disclaimers

Detection and plagiarism. AI detection and plagiarism results are probabilistic estimates and should not be used as the sole basis for any consequential decisions. A plagiarism scan may miss sources or flag common phrases. LumaText makes no guarantees about the accuracy of detection or plagiarism results.

Humanizer. The AI Humanizer returns the rewritten text as our provider produces it. We do not test that output against any AI detector, and we make no promise that it will pass, evade or score any particular way on any detector, now or in future — detectors change constantly and are outside our control. We also do not guarantee that rewritten text keeps the meaning, facts, tone or correctness of what you submitted. Read and check the output before you use it.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, LumaText is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, opportunity, reputation, academic standing or employment, arising from your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer, you keep all the rights your local consumer law gives you.

11. Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of all text content you submit. We do not claim any rights to your content, and we do not use it to train any model of our own. You grant us only the limited permission we need to run the service for you: to transmit your text to the provider that processes it, to store it and its result in your Library, and to display it back to you. This permission ends when you delete the document or your account.

The LumaText service, brand, and interface are our intellectual property.

12. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why. You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing [email protected] from the email address on your account. We will confirm once it is deleted. Deleting your LumaText account does not cancel an active Pro subscription with Polar, so please cancel it from the Billing page first.

Sections 9, 10, 11, 14 and any other term that by its nature should survive will continue to apply after your account ends.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will give you notice by email or through the service before it takes effect. Continued use of the service after that constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the service and, if you are a Pro subscriber, cancel your subscription.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of LumaText, are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law rules. The courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute.

If you are a consumer resident in the UK, the EEA, or another country whose law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your local courts or to rely on your local consumer protection law, this section does not take that right away from you.

Before starting formal proceedings, please email us so we can try to resolve the matter directly. Most problems are settled that way.
